In the May 2017 issue of Conde Nast Traveler, Chicago was named the “best restaurant city in America.” This is for good reason as it has become a foodie paradise boasting much more than deep dish pizza, hot dogs, and Italian beef sandwiches. Over the years, architect and urban designer, Daniel Burnham, who was also responsible for the famed Flatiron Building in NYC, reimagined this rough and tumbled industrial town to the modern city it is today.Įver since, Chicago has been renowned for world-class architecture, museums, and more recently, a thriving food scene. This extravagant event took place just two decades after the Great Chicago Fire that left a third of the population homeless.

plus its a great atmosphere…not to mention the best egg nog drinks in the world. In 1893 Chicago was put in the world map as a destination of culture, architecture, and innovation as it hosted the World’s Fair: Columbian Exposition celebrating the 400 th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the New World. anyways, i suggest going for those who want a chill relaxed time with good music. And while there’s always the hope of some patrons getting super drunk and making out or maybe, just maybe thinking the big black guy might be fun to join us…im there for the giant sexy arms of bartender Erin. Plus he usually plays the coolest videos or movies while rockin’ out in the dj booth. So this is my hangout…its the place I go to for drinks. At least 5 different bar stations are scattered around a large area that on a busy day, is all PACKED !! It has several areas, some open, some cozy, some with videos, some with great seating. This is my favorite Gay Bar in Chicago’s Boystown…. It looks and feels like what I’d imagine a gay dive bar to be. Didn’t try the food, but it looked good (we were there on a weeknight.) Very no frills etc etc, but they don’t bother you if you grab a table and chill. Definitely worth a wednesday/sunday night venture! And Sunday is $3 domestics and $4 wells! įunky decor, good cheap wine (I tried the pinot noir), friendly service, and nice people. The food is typical bar food, but the drinks, friendly staff, clientele, and laughs more than make up for the food menu.

I almost exclusively come here for karaoke and the outrageously huge song selection with the ability to change the key of the song. Always friendly and strangely all attractive. I can’t say enough how much I LOVE the staff at this bar. I would highly recommend checking it out! I went with a few friends for a couple drinks before heading out to Sidetracks for s fun musical monday, and it is exactly we needed. I have to say the drinks are amazing! Servers have been friendly thus far and the owner is a great guy and a hoot. It’s a small yet successful bar located just of the main strip. It shows a popularity shift from larger Boystown bars to smaller neighborhood bars such as Marty’s Martini Bar and long time watering hole veteran Big Chicks. With 2013 ending, 4 of the top 5 Gay bars in Chicago are in Edgewater/Andersonville according to Yelp.
